‘Notre maison brûle, et nous regardons ailleurs’ Jacques Chirac 2002.Dragon’s teeth The fruit has withered on the tree or rotting lies on parched bare ground, and in this bowl of fire, only the rose raises its lovely head and cruel claws, talonning the curved and burning sky.
The huge fires near us are under control at last, there’s been a bit of rain and the temperature has dropped from over 40°C and the firefighers are hopeful. The devastation is awful though, so much dead and dying, and the fire season is nowhere near over :(
Thank you xx For us here, it’s better already. The smoke has cleared. The two children in Bordeaux are still wearing masks to go out, and the wildlife won’t be resurrected :(
This is absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you! I wrote it in the middle of the third heatwave, the megablazes and serial migraines. It’s an apocalyptic vision and I stand by it.
I really enjoyed reading this. Great imagery. Powerful. Thank you!
Thanks so much. It’ been a difficult week to live through.
Oh Jane. Sorry to hear that! I hope next week is better! 🙏🫶

It all sounds horrible. Thoughts go out to you and yours ❤️❤️
This is one of my favorites, the second stanza is powerful and vivid. The central image works as a metaphor for so many things at all levels of being.
It’s a poem straight from the gut. There are, as you say, many levels of anguish.
knowing where you are and what you currently walk through this hits double hard....
i want to hug you now!! ♡
