Of course it's true! I'm glad the father had more sense than the mother!

The only parts of the story that aren’t true are that I didn’t gush like that, and we both went to put Mamma Dog back where we found her. She was a nice dog, but obviously very scary when she was put out :)

We were always terrified that our kids would lose their very special stuffed animal friends.

The only time we had that happen was when the youngest broke her arm (again) and lost her friend at the hospital. We never got it back.

I feel for little Poppy. Her childhood is not going to be easy with that controlling mother of hers.

I have a horrible feeling their couple is going to fall apart too. Who will get custody?

I expect that whatever happens, it won’t be good.

At least Mamma Dog got home again :)

Yes, there's that.

Creepy. But in a good way!

It really happened. My daughter was terrified of Mamma Dog and so we put it back where we found it. We were young and inexperienced and didn’t know that when someone finds an object lost by a child, they put it in a prominent place where they’re likely to find in when they next pass by. Nobody takes kids’ stuff home with them!

Loved this story Jane, particularly the ominous foreshadowing of the mother daughter relationship in years to come!

Thanks Fran. She is already so disconnected from her child, it doesn’t bode well. Nor for the couple either.

Even stuffed animals know where they belong.
